Another 03-A3 rescue

I found this Remington in my LGS the other day. The stock had been cut, but otherwise it hadn't been molested too badly. It looks as though Bubba started his project with an unfired rifle. Fortunately, I keep a stash of 03 and 03-A3 parts around to aid me in putting these back together.

Serial number is from July '43 and barrel is May '43. I'm pretty sure that it is the original barrel for this rifle.

That ... is really cool!

I hope I can get something half as nice as that from my Bubba'd 03A3. I am missing all the stock hardware, the stock and somebody replace the front blade with a Redfield globe in the day. I'm just hoping the barrel will clean up, and be worth any of the effort. I can't test fire the thing, because its in some hand carved stock that got so dry it cracked at the tang from the last time somebody shot it. But it was super cheap, so why not?

I'm not sure if I was smart or just a hoarder. Every time I see a '03 or '03-A3 part that is reasonably priced I buy it. That gives me trading material with other people that may have something I need.

I am on a mission to save as many of these old rifles as I can.
