I recently picked up a Long Branch No4 Mk1* dated 1942. Excellent condition with New Zeland ownership marks. I need more sunlight to get some better pics. I will post more tomorrow. Anyone know of a good source for a matching bayonet?

There's no 'true' matching bayonet for your rifle Chris. Rifles and bayonets were all issued separately so you could have any of the No4 Mk2's and it would be original but I suppose that if you wanted a pseudo matchine bayonet, then I assume that you want a Long Branch Mk2. Someone on this forum will have one for sale. They are plentiful and as cheap as chips.........
Yea, in my whole collection I do not have a long branch bayonet. One wil come up.
Chris
I see the NZ inscribed, but the C/'\ is a Canadian Government marking, Did they ship rifles to other areas with the Canadian marking or might that be a true Canadian issued Longbranch???
I have heard that they were both stamped and electro-penciled in New Zeland then stored in crates. There is no import marks on this one, so it must have come back before 1967.
I've had LB Mk.II* spike bayonets in the past with the NZ engraved with an electric pencil. I have several LB spikes left in stock if you need one.
Never seen the NZ markings on top of the receiver like that. usually they are on the LH side of the butt socket or receiver wall, with a N^Z stamped into the butt itself.
