Hi All,
Just a very simple question, is the handguard screw for the wood handguards longer than the one for the plastic handguards?

Hi All,

One of the Small Arms Fitters (aka armourers) that frequent this site will give you a definitive answer, but I say they are the same length.
Nope.......... the screw for the wood handguard is LONGER than the plastic handguard screw. Same format and metric thread though so you could just tap the thread down an extra 5 threads to convert a wood type to fit your plastic HG's
No question is a simple question. Lesson one during teaching practice. If someone has asked it, it's because he wants to know.
Dear o' dear Paul........ The REAL Armourers, the old ex 3-year apprentices wouldn't appreciate being known as small-arms fitters!
Ah, but doesn't the answer depend upon whether or not they are solid or laminate handguards?
I am sure when I changed my Maranyl hand guards to laminate, the screw length was the same
Yep......... The laminated and plkastic handguards used the same length screw. Solid wood, longer due to the fact that there's the thickness of the wood to take into account whereas with the plastic and laminate, there's just a steel pressing at the front end
OK, thanks guys, now I know I'm not crazy and I have to find a longer screw!
Cheers!
