Front sight on M95 Carbine
I finally picked up the bayonet with the front sight on it today for my M95 carbine. A couple of problems however. The sight that is presently on it is a LOT taller than the bayonet sight. Plus the bayonet won't fit on the lug.
The second problem I can remedy fairly easily as I can see what they did to get them to fit. The first has me a bit confused. This rifle is an original carbine, not a cut down one but it was upgraded to the newer round, it was also refurbished. Is that why it has a higher sight on it. I've never fired it but would imagine that the high sight on it now is going to have it hitting way low. The rear sight appears to be original and correct to the rifle. The front sight when compared to photos in Mannlicher Military Rifles is about twice the height of what is shown.
I did a bit of research and found the tall sight is supposed to be dead on at 100 yards with the 8.56 ammo. This seems to be pretty short range for normal battle sights. Is possibly a Bulgarian refurbishment and that many carbines retain the shorter sight with the upgraded cartridge?
I spent about a year trying to get one of these bayonets, hate to not be able to "use" it.
