I need to find replacement sling swivels for my SAUER 12x12x9.374r drilling that was made in Jan. 1945 . It is the same as was made for the German Luftwaffe in 1941 and 1942 . What size leather sling was used on the model 30 ? Thanks.

They issued it to the Luffwaffe as a very expensive survival firearm on board some of their aircraft in North Africa. They placed a order for 4000 M30 SAUER 3 barrel drilling in 12x12x9.3x74r cal. THE Luftwaffe accepted 2,456 of them before the order was canceled in 1942. A M30 Luftwaffe Drilling in mint condition with it's issued aluminum carry chest and it's contains may go at auction as much as $25,000.00 to $35,000.00!! This depends on the auction house etc. Beware of fakes !! All of them were reported to have been built between 1941 and 1942 . J.P. SAUER made the commercial M30 drilling . Which is the same as the Luffwaffe issued ones, from the 1930's right up to JAN. 1945 or latter !! Mine is dated 145, which is 1=Jan. 45 =1945 The only difference is the military acceptance proof stamps and it is not with-in the correct serial number range and the build date.
Amazing! That really is a curiosity.
Photos??? One can see Goring's influence..
Those pieces aren't that rare. Most of them were taken to the US by soldiers, since they loved having a great hunting weapon of which nearly all were unused and of high quality. A friend of mine has one complete with the box plus an additional spare box.
But to get back to the original question: since Sauer produced a commerative series somewhere 30 years ago, you might try and contact them whether they have any spare parts available.
Thanks for your information on the 30 year commerative Sauer drilling . Do you know if it was a M30 drilling ? As I understand it they did not make the M30 in 12x12x9.3x74r in any great numbers for the commercial market 1930 to end of production in April of 1945 . Most that are listed for sale seem to be in 16x16x8x57r or the 16x16x7x57r .
