• Damage from a mine east of St. Lo, 20 July 1944.
On a small road in the grove. Two 4 x 4 tried to make munitions to a battery. The first vehicle was destroyed by a mine and immediately called the Genie. The second vehicle stopped, waiting for a sapper with the detector, has cleared the road laying that other soldiers squatted dig the ground with their daggers around the truck destroyed.
In the background a convoy stopped on the left side. Many GIs are present including a Medic

Didier Lodieu in Dying for Saint-Lô (pages 94 and 95) Histoire & Collection, 2007; makes the following interpretation:
The pitfalls are many on the road to St. Lo, as German engineers are experts in my field.

That must have been some explosion to blow all four tires and wheels off that jeep!

No rims...I'll bet they were salvaged by passing vehicles. They must have gone through their share of replaceables in the first short period before supply got moving over there...
