A nice find from a safe of a elderly shooter

Hi all,

today i have some pics of a nice No.4 Mk2. This beauty was offered to a friend of mine. An elderly shooter, who has now a worse eyesight gave it to him with the wish that he may have a good new home. And he has it now. I cleaned it, applyed some layers of lineseed oil and a few layers of stock wax. How is this rifles value, what would you think?

I'd guess that its value is now less than before you aded the stock wax and thus dropped its value to a collector - who would want an absolutely standard finishon what was a pristine rifle.

Beerhunter, i am sure that some collectors will roll their eyes, but this is for shooting and by the way, it wasn´t looking good before... all in all the new owner had a offer to sell it like it is now for 450 Euros. But he wont give it away.

They are going for $350 in my area :)

I wouldn't worry too much about the stock wax. Some people take things way too seriously. If it needed cleaned, it wasn't mint anymore.

350 easy closer to 500 the way I see it

In Canada I have seen them offered as high as $900.00. Probably worth less than that but still probably worth $700.00.

Thanks guys! The stock wax wasnt a bought one it was a selfmade wax out of bees wax, lineseed and natural terpene. I have it from Jay Currah´s page and it is a good one.

Are there many .303 shooters/collectors in your area?

LEs are /were quite popular here in Germany. Somewhat less now, as the price of ammunition is prohibitive. And that was the main reason why I got rid of my .303 No. 5 but kept the other in .308. But they still appear in most competitions, together with Mausers, Mosin Nagants and the dominant Swedes.
