Landing ships putting cargo ashore on one of the invasion beaches, at low tide during the first days of the operation, June 1944. Anyone else struck by the look on the face of the fellow center right photo 2 with the cocked helmet smiling at the camera? For some reason my eyes were drawn directly to him.

I think the seaward side of the big sign said " Utah Beach ....now under new management " .
