I have a six digit Inland that has a cone shaped plunger with a long stem. The plunger fits very tight in the spring and is stuck. Is that a problem? I have not shot the rifle and don’t plan to, I am just curious as why the plunger is so tight in the spring. Also, I have not put a lot of pressure on the spring to get the plunger out.
The spring has a tighter coil at the top to lock it in IIRC. It will not hurt a thing provided the spring and plunger move freely in it's bore.
The tight coil is better anyway. That way if the spring gets away from you on assembly or disassembly, they both go, so you aren't just missing one small part...
get rid of it--I will send you a mo for $15 for it-LOL good one, nice early extractor as well
I have never seen one other than drawings in a book. Looks much longer than I'd imagined. That extractor can be cleaned up nicely with a watchmaker's small triangle file. Very very interesting.

I wonder if it has a tighter coil on one end of the spring, or maybe a groove on the plunger stem - seems like I saw a picture of a plunger once that had a groove. Just currious, can you tell us what the first digit of your serial number is? Thanks! - Bob

Bolts: type 1 extractor on the left and type 3 extractor on the right.
Extractors: type 1 on the left, type 2 in the middle and type 3 on the right.
Extractor Plungers: type 1 long stem conical on the left and type 2 step cut on the right.
Type 1 conical/cone shape plunger used with type 1 extractor.
Type 2 step cut plunger used with type 2 and 3 extractors.
