type 99 bolt problem

I have an early war type 99 arisaka that i recently purchased but there is a problem with the firing pin spring. When inserted into the firing pin sleeve, it is supposed to go all the way in with nothing sticking out the top but the spring in mine goes all the way in and there is still about an inch sticking out so when i put the safty knob back on, I have to guide it the rest of the way into the sleeve. However, when fully assembled it functions fine (so I think, I have never fired it). I was just wondering why my firing pin spring is too long. Perhaps it is the wrong spring for the gun? I don't really know so any help would be appreciated.

It is quite possibly the correct spring, but one that had lost some strength. So the spring was deliberately overstretched beyond the elastic limit to make it longer in the uncompressed state, thus now providing more force when compressed back to the original length. Just try shooting it, and if it works, leave it as it is.

I'd love to shoot it but unfortunately I haven't found any ammo anywhere

Ammo is currently a pretty big problem. I have one box that I found at Cabelas about two years ago. Haven't seen any since.

Yes I reload but I can't even find brass and I don't feel like reforming .270 brass

Gotcha, I was going to say reform .30.06. I did 40 up not to long ago, worked awesome. See ya on the range...;)

Another thing is that the trigger is REALLY light. I barely have to squeeze before it goes off. I would say it's at or slightly less than 2 pounds of pull.
