Another Enfield has found a good home. Sporterized stock,No Bolt and no magazine.Bore was clear and looked decent to my eye. $25 dollars:D. I Stripped it,used all the Q tips for miles around.
The reason I grabbed it is that it may have some regimental marks (ESSEX) or would this be a stamp for something else ?

It won't be a service property mark. Probably a retailer called 'Essex' - wasn't there a 'Sussex' mark like this reported in Canada some while back?
Looks like a 'peddled' rifle - does it have SSA or NRF on top of the butt socket on the left hand side?

Yes it has SSA Read an older post with regard to Peddled Scheme. Good information on some of the manufacturing systems in place at the time.
