Local PD traded these in for storm shelters. Described as 10 Colt M16s ant 2 GM M16s several grenade launchers along with 3 Winchester shotguns. Can anyone ID the shotguns?

Look like model 1200 Winchesters.

1200s, they were used by the US Army around Vietnam time frame, maybe through 70s. Used the 1917 bayonet but newer production type. We only got rid of ours about 6 years ago. Contractor bought all of them, shame too, they were pretty much new unissued.

Most law enforcement took cast off or current service weapons into inventory at some point. These are just another example. Most times, with exceptions in some areas, the weapons remained unused. It sort of pains me to see these shredded considering the M16's would be pre-ban and could garner cash for that dept. The trench guns could get a simple sealed bid and be gone. Open bidding often works better though. problem is, most law enforcement bureaucrats see shredding them as saving humanity. I completely understand. Just too bad is all. I'd love to check out a GM Hydra-matic, I've never seen one in the hand.
The paper had another color photo and the Shotguns looked to be in very nice condition surley worth some $ and legal to sell at auction. Politics. Makes me sad.
I'd be willing to bet, from the photos, the guns are just about new...
I was a bit curious about the origins of the shotguns in military configuration with the commercial looking forends.
