New replacement No.4 barrels

Criterion in Wisconsin are working the engineering process now to manufacture correct No.4 barrels complete with bayonet lugs. I sent them a couple of front sight bases and a bayonet to use in the reverse engineering process. This is a FACT and not FANTASY. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product as I'm sure many of you are too. The quality of their replacement barrels for M14, M1, USM1917 and Springfield rifles are second to none and with the current import bans in place it's certainly good news for a change. Maybe they'll even consider making SMLE barrels in the future if this project comes of well. We'll open that can of worms when the time comes!! :thup:

I am getting some made right now by Armalon UK and expect delivery early next month.

And therefore the lineage can carry on bringing fun and discussions amongst we milsurps shooters and collectors for another 100+ years glad some Co. has taken the plunge as I am quite sure the market will be huge.

No Muffet you take the original out and wear out the replacement barrel and if and when you sell the ol'girl screw in the original providing you tell the story to the new buyer they may say crikey leave the new barrel in and I will take the original for an agreed whole deal price.

I have been collecting WWI Lithgow stamped parts for my '16 for the last 10 years right down to the front sight wedge, bands, front sight block and windage sight, sears, trigger, cocking piece, bolt heads, mag, Mag floor plate, Mag cut off routed rear sight protectors, dumbbell, safety catch etc all star stamped so if I ever ever decide to sell it can go with a good set of spares.
And I can keep it fairly close to original specs

Post script - Think Muffet was referring to collectible weapons being down graded in value due to the owner throwing away the original barrel, but I would keep it and let it go with the rifle my '16 is not that good on the range but it is what it is.

You lost me mate. What gun are you referring?

Brian, how difficult is it to export a barrel out of the US, and import it in Canada?

I got a figure on the barrels from the UK from the sole importer to AU and they are looking like $800.oo AU per barrel if they are chrome moly that would be great for that price but if not it is rather steep I mean I do not mind paying the $800.oo AU I did for a 32"Border 6.5/284 barrel which I know is a totally different beast but a 25" .303 for the same price then the 30-40 dollars to get it to W.A and say $300.oo to fit makes it a $1,140.oo barrel! :dunno:

I live about 1 hour from them. Next time I am up that way I will stop in.
