My Ross M-1910 Sporter

I purchased this recently. No traces of case hardening on the finish of the bolt nor extractor. Blued finish shows signs of wear, so if redone is an old reblue. The serial numbers are small, looks a little strange to me. Note the double stamped markings on the receiver. Porter pop-up aperture sight gets jammed in place some times. The little spring at the front of it has been twisted and the release nubbins has a dent in the front that keeps it from moving forward properly. There is a little grub screw at the rear of that sight base. I am assuming that is to secure the rear sight, when sighted in. The rifling is quite good with dark grooves near the chamber. The finish on the bolt in my M-10 a few posts down looks identical to yours. I recently express rust blued a Sporterized MkIII that had tons of case colors on the bolt and in places on the receiver. These areas did take bluing but it wound up a vastly different color than the other bluing. Does anyone have an example of a M-10 with the case colouring on the bolt?

Looks like a tidy example. The double striking of the "M-1910" is interesting because it shows that those lines or some of them were struck individually. Nice to have the Porter backsight.

The blued bolt is normal for all the commercial M-10 (.280) AFAIK.

The tiny screw at the rear of the sight base is only there to hold the sight (or blank) in place.

Although I have not seen anyone move the Porter Peep Sight for windage adjustment.
I don`t see why it can`t be done.

Pretty sure that was the intention, with the dovetail and screw.
