1st build!!
So I have a 1909 Cavalry Carbine that's in great shape, and I want to keep it that way!
So I p/u a Brazilian DWM 1908/98 action, an Argentine FMAP 1909 Carbine barrel in 7.65x53, and a Cavalry Carbine stock.
The action and magazine/trigger guard have some minor pitting, nothing to effect integrity, just cosmetic. Had to inlet the stock for a standard trigger guard.
Now to put it all together!:D

So I got her built, but still need top wood, barrel band, and nose cap. Sending her to the
GS for head-space check this wknd, should have her back next week. Barrel tightened up about
24 degrees past TDC (top dead center), so had to relocate sights.:ugh: Almost there! can't wait:thup:
she's the one on the bottom

Tahoe, That looks like an entertaining project and about the only way to come up with a low cost rifle in this era. It will be a handy shooter in a caliber that I like too. Salt Flat

Thanks Salt Flat, I've got $170 into her ($220 counting shipping), maybe $50 more for the other parts needed. That's still cheaper than any budget gun, if I get 2 MOA I'm happy, I hunt some thick woods with the occasional 100 to 250 yard clear-cuts, so iron sights on a handy little carbine are just the ticket. That 7.65x53 cartridge is still awesome after 125 years, 150 grns @ 2600-2700 fps and 180 grns @ 2400-2500 fps still gets the job done.

Was at the GS yesterday, and found out she was .010" too long in the chamber, so we removed the barrel, machined .010" off the breach
and put her back together, and wa-la PERFECT !! Sights had to be reworked again, but she's ready to go !!:cheers:
next weekend !! this is gonna be a long week !!

Good job tahoe2. I thiught that I was the only that done such things.
Here is a pic of a frankenmauser I built. It's basically a VZ-33 small ring 98 in .308.

Complete Czech stock set, 1917 Erfurt KAR98(a) receiver, 19" barrel of unknown origin that I bought off of Gunbroker. It has the rear sight from an FN carbine and the front sight from a K98k. Oh, yeah, a reproduction VZ-24 sling.
It's light weight with a handy length and it shoots great.

Everyone needs at least one "fantasy" mauser - my faux standard Modell - RC barreled action, 1909 Argie bolt, mystery beech stock with trench art, Turk hardware:

I'm working on one thats pretty weird. I started with a BNZ 44 action. I couldn't find a cheap K98 stock so I ended up with an already messed with but fixable VZ24 stock. Also found a decent barrel of unknown origin but of the correct length (with the old stlye eagle markings). I'm not drilling or tapping or modifying anything so if I do find better bits at the gunshows I can switch them out. I'm into it for about $200. Salt Flat

Let's see some pics when you get it together

Nice guns guys !! Can't wait to see yours Salt! I love the way mauser parts fit together,
just a little "massaging" goes a long way, it baffles the mind!
