Late model number 4 mk1, what do the markings tell me, South African? Where made?
I've been researching stuff about this rifle, but am not sure about much. I understand that it is a February 1949 made gun, and believe it has South African markings, but not sure. What does the barrel markings mean? Can I tell if the upper wood has been replaced? What does the little crown looking marking on the receiver mean, under the broad arrow in the "U"?
Thanks for any help, I'm new to the Lee Enfield rifles, and understanding them is a bit overwhelming.
