Use this to adjust sights?

I have more images coming but I was not able to preview image until I put title in. I picked this up at Webster Flea market in Fl. Seller said itr is used to clamp on a overhang in a ceiling and then wires were hung from it.

My first thought was to use it for moving front sights but I have not tried it yet. What do you think?

I believe that is called a "beam clamp". Might work?

The problem with the beam clamp is that what would be the adjusting screw touches the sight, and when turned will really mar the sight as it is turned. The end of the screw was made to bite into a piece of steel.

Got it at Webster huh, I like going there, big flea market.
Down here, we use a thing like that, for a beam clamp to attach wire run hangers.
Or maybe its some sort of old Chinese torture device?:lol:

Replace the screw with a #8 bolt with the tip turned down. Field mod. PAX

Johnny is right. Use bits of brass sheet/shim to prevent marring the sight or sight blade.
I use the same idea, just that the minature C-clamp can be adjusted more precisely, by using a small screwdriver as a tommy-bar:

Of course, I forgot the brass when making the photo (OK, I've only got 2 hands...)
