Carcano Rifle Markings

I bought this Carcano Rifle in Nova Scotia Canada I am trying to find where it came from it has all there`s markings but I cant find anything about them.

Brit proof marks on the left side of the barrel lets you know id visited England at some point.

It came from Italy.:madsmile:
Looks to be an M38 and if still in the original chambering would be a 6.5x52 but the English proofs say 6.5x54 so it would be a good idea to do a chamber cast before firing to see which.
It was made at the R.E. Terni arsenal and the markings on the butt are the serial number, looks to have over stamped with another at some point.
The marking below the ''V'' in the s/n on the receiver is the Tiro a Segno Nazionali marking which means the rifle was above average in the accuracy department and during WWII it was likely issued to the best shot of a given Italian unit to be used in the sniping roll. It is said that rifles bearing such marking are exceedingly uncommon. Is it still in original military trim or has Bubba the gun plumber had hold of it?

Well, It's not an M38, looks to be a heavily sportered M41. Unfortunately that kills any collector value as well as the whatever premium the TSN marking would have added to it.
Are those rounds 6.5 Carcano or 6.5 MS ? Just trying to sort whether the English proofs contain a typo or if it has sure enough been converted.

Vinatge Hunter is correct. That seems to be a Fucile 91/41, probably reworked post-war (hence the discrepancy between butt and barrel numbers), sporterized and rechambered to 6.5x54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer with British civilian proof for use as a hunting rifle. The M-S is a good cartridge, but is now probably more difficult to find than Carcano ammo (which is made by PRVI).

Looks fine. Value zilch.

6.5x54 is just about as easy as Carcano ammo as it is made by Prvi also. You may have to order it online but it is available and not expensive. I had it confused with 6.5x54 Dutch just a short while ago.
