1943 LB - "A T or not a T"?

Am interested in feedback on this 1943 Longbranch. No scope, no nothing. Just a rifle with cheek piece and pads.

Have looked over the various threads on the T's and the LB T's in particular but am still not certain what to think about this rifle. Most of the insightful opinions are based upon the pads and how they are or are not mounted correctly- I can't tell the difference.

Curiously, this rifle is only a few serial number digits (can't quite make out that last number) from the 1943 in this thread-

1943 Long Branch Sniper? a detailed fake or could it be.........

You have a nice early LB sniper, from what I can see is still in original condition. The front pad looks great, the rear's screws are a little proud but still factory. Great find!!

and add these to it for a while, until something else comes along...

Any thoughts as to the markings on the Left side Butt?

Looks like a 4?. Could be anything really but probably a rack number, say 4B for 4th rifle along in the bottom slot. Just makes the Arms storemans job easier when the weapons are handed in and at arms-check time.

Now it's been established that it is the real McCoy, you're very probably wondering where you can get a telescope and bracket to fit.

If someone here would be interested in getting an appropriate R.E.L. onto the 1943 LB T, I'd be interested in paying a large sum.

Occasionally you see an REL scope for sale. They go quick. Lawrence (?) in New Zealand may have one....he has a site so you can track him down.

Your 1943 looks right. See that you link to the other one is 45L1160 so it's one serial number off. Has same inspector mark "F28".
