4500 pound or 4500 dollar?
$4500 dollars. The elephant comment was a metaphor for the sticker shock of collecting snipers. Unless of course he plans to take an L42a1 elephant hunting. Then my money is on the elephant.
Hi,
Last month I saw a std no4 mk1* LB advertised here in online auction house in NZ for $2000NZ. Looking at it, a fair price would have been <$200 it was shagged. Didnt sell....
regards
Well before I get slammed with questions and friendly comments :bash:
I want to let it be known that I don't want to nor need to sell it at this time. If it sells, it sells, if not no biggy.
Honestly I put it up for sale to try and find the original rifle that it goes to or find a rifle that I can purchase. Hence the last little comment in the listing.
I bought the complete rig less a couple CES items a few months ago for only slightly more than that.
Snipershot, don't bet too much on the elephant. They've been killed by the hundreds in past years with lesser calibers.
Last October I paid $4500 for an L42a1 with chest, scope, mount, can, lens cover and carrier strap. All matching, from the Navy Arms load. All matching, for $4500.
If someone wants to sell me there L42a1 rifle and kit for what they bought it for or heck even little more than they paid. I'll happily bring down the price of the scope.
Again, I know that the price of the scope is BS. Like I said in my previous post (#5)

It can't just be me that thinks that we are our own worst enemies, sites like this and others are great at passing information and for increasing personal knowledge. Pre internet we had our own shooting circles and friends that we learnt from and sold too but now the world is at our feet.
The hype that surrounds almost anything with the word "sniper" attached to it truly astounds me at times and the "feeding frenzy" that is sometimes generated really beggars belief.
Lots of people have done very well out of this hype, it has been said on many occasions an item will only sell for what someone is prepared to pay for it no matter what someone thinks it might be worth.
If someone had the rifle that matched this scope then it might be worth the money to them but who are we to judge, it was not that long ago that someone paid in the region of £1200 for the L42 lens cleaning brush bottle, an item that without its "sniper" connection would have at best been worth only a few pence and worst simply thrown in the bin.
