REST AREA ON ATTU. After returning from the front lines on 20 May, the men busied themselves by doing some much needed laundry and cleaning their weapons. The men needed heavy winter clothing to help protect them from the bitter cold and damp weather

A couple months back I was asked to a neighbor's house to check their electric system. The husband was in a wheelchair and was wearing a Navy hat with his ships name on it. I asked him about it. He explained about how they supported troops on Attu. We talked, I mostly listened, amazed. I proudly shook his hand thanking him for his service. I think he was happy that I knew what the hell he was talking about.
