Barrel question
I picked up a deal on a 'grab box' of Garand parts and there is a barrel that has me wondering what it is. Looks like a '54 HRA barrel at a glance . BUT! it only has 2 sets of rifling, no groove for the lower band pin and a small hole ( only goes 1/2 way in) where the receiver threads end on the barrel. It has been suggested that it may be a 1903 barrel sleeved to a Garand stub but if so it must have been done by a wizard as there is no indication of how it was done. Can I use this barrel on a build? It is in very good to excellent condition, muzzle wear in minimal and rifling is clean and sharp. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I also suggest it's a 1903A3 replacement barrel that's been fitted to a stub. If it's done right, it's about invisible. I wouldn't use it for anything. Real barrels are too easy to get, even here in Canada. If you look on CanadianGunNutz, there's half a dozen available right now.
