Used GI slings

There is a guy on EBAY in the Netherlands selling used, but good, MRT marked GI slings for $29 including shipping to the US. They are D tip, but still a good deal if you want a later GI sling. The MRT slings are running $50 and up domestically on Ebay and at Numrich and Northridge. I ordered one for my Inland. The nylon Vietnam era sling looks just wrong on my Highwood stock!, and I can't afford an original C tip. I'll post a pic when I get it.

From what I see 29.99 is a good price and like you said so much better looking than the nylon.

Got my sling. Awesome.. ALmost looks NOS, but maybe a little honest wear. Great buy. Considering it shipped from EU, the shipping was fairly fast.

Can you make out the date when the MRT was applied? - Bob

Isn't the tip thick? I've bought several slings that had a tip so thick I couldn't get it through the oiler.

The tip is about like other post-war USGI slings I have had. If you stick the sling in first, then the oiler towards the front of the sling, then slide the tip through between the front of the slingwell and the oiler. It worked fine on my Inland high-wood. It makes the tip end of the sling under the buckle on the inside of the sling. I'll check tonight for a date.

The Sling i bought from him (shipping was sooner than expected) looks nice, mine has a date of 1951. The aftermarket one is thinner and stiff, this one is a little thicker, but bends real nice with no stiffness. The tip is dented more on one side and is not real thick. The fit on 2 different Stocks were different on the the Aftermarket Stock its real tight to get it to install with the oiler it took a little work, but on my M1 type 3 stock IO marked it fit through with the oiler with no problems. I like the Slings he is selling i bought one and then bought another.

Checked. The MRT is almost faded off and can't see a date. No doubt it is real, though. The cotton has the same feel as my MRT treated 30 round 1952 pouch. Blackend brass tips., I think.
