Enfield No.4 Mk2 front sight alignment tool

For a couple years shooting my Enfield Rifle No.4 Mk2, I have been holding to the left a couple inches at 100 yards. Not too much of a problem, except I like 200 yards. Now, I was shooting kinda sorta five inches to the right. I was annoyed after spending so much time on reloads.
Anyway, I emailed Randy at buchananprec@roadrunner.com and had his tool in two days. It cost $45.00 including shipping. A well-made tool as his pics show. Machinists are a persnickety lot. A good thing, as the tool fits over the foresight protector like a glove and aligns the adjusting screws. I followed the directions and moved the sight 2.25 MOA.
I went to the range yesterday and took the tool. I did not need any further adjustment. That was just luck, but, the tool would be easy to use at the range for any finite adjustments.

Tools like that are an absolute magic touch. I'd like one that adapts to many different...rifles pistols...guess I'd have to design one.

But surely.........., there is already an Army issue tool that while it's not as well made, does exactly the same job, cheap as chips and always available on ebay and the like. Or am I missing something?

Armourers know by instinct approximately how much to move the foresight per inch at 100 yards. Only we just used a brass drift and a small toffee hammer!

Wish the were cheap as chips and readily available on the evil bay. Took me years to find one for my No. 5 (`twas far from cheap as chips ... and I only had to use it once). The old brass screw and a hammer seem to work just as well and is a multi tool ... works on my Lugers and all others.

And that's where most of us are...to date.

I just have the one Enfield. I like it very much. I know about the hammer whacking, but my only experience is with nails. With the tool each 1/6 turn of the bolt was .75 MOA. It worked very well.

I haven't done much testing yet. It does move the sight from right to left. Further testing will have to wait until after I have walked the dogs. I will try left to right when we get back.

It's raining and the hounds didn't want to go far.

The left to right testing was successful and I am starting R&D on a Texas sized version.

Some of you might be thinking the prototype looks like a $3 C-clamp with the swivel thing taken off... and you would be right. I need to sell it to cover my R&D costs, so it's available for $40 shipped CONUS only.

It's the sort of thing I've considered, but for Glock and Sig it's a bit rough. I follow your train of thought though...
