I could use a bit of help please. I'm looking to but one of the minty unissued No4Mk2 rifles for my collection. If I remember, there was a chart posted awhile back showing where the last Enfield rifles were contracted to for delivery by serial number. But I can't find it right now on the board.

The infamous Irish contract had quite a few wrapped rifles and they still pop up in the USA and quite cheap, I am not aware there are any other batches/contracts of a reliable nature. ie here in NZ several times a year I see LB 1942 no4s (typically) with their bores filled with grease, supposedly to keep the un-used barrel good, or more like to hide a worn out barrel as the condition of the rest of the gun is any indication.
As far as other un-issued I don't think you will see any un-issued as such with what I assume is the condition you expect from that. eg 2 of my mk2's were accepted into the "system" in late 55 or early 56 and then sold almost immediately to Parker Hale and AJP and modified as target rifles. Their numbers all match and look only lightly used but they still are used, and modded inside, not original but fun.
The list can be found towards the end of the book on the No.4 by C.S. Ferris. It seems that a considerable number of these rifles were bought up by a German dealer, and some months ago I supplied Amatikkulu with a list of those that have been offered for sale on the German market in recent years. None of them were in the wrap, but a lot looked almost "freshly unwrapped" and never issued for active service. I have one.Quote:

Depending on how much you are willing to pay.... I know where one is and should be able to have it brought to the Chantilly show tomorrow. It is a UF prefix.
