Well, that does make a difference........and one that you can certainly take to our sister forum: the M1/M2 Carbine forum.
But, you aren't going to be able to mount an Alaskan on that, either. Not a lot of folks put a scope on the carbine, since it is basically a 100 yd gun. But, those of us with failing vision can always shoot better with a scope. The only set up that works really well on the carbine, without damaging the receiver or barrel, is a long eye relief scope (like the Leupold M8-2x) clamped to the barrel with a B-Square mount (now obsolete); this does require sacrificing a handguard.
