Truly magnificent.
You'd want to be right on the edge of the flight line when they crank up, warm up, then start taxi. Not many can say they've experienced that sound now.

But it was the catch cry of the day on every young boys lips "Cor Blimey a Spitfire" and what a thrill for the young pilots to be belting around the sky when not engaged in aerial combat I bet they had smiles that would make Mrs Maclean envious (Colgate Ad).

I've been participating in air shows for years and occasionally there are kids who bring in current state of art military aircraft for the show. Make no mistake, these kids are smart and LOVE flying the new aircraft....
They've told us stories about flying in the middle of nowhere at minimum altitude upside down and scaring livestock, etc. What really surprised me about these kids is many of them thought we were so fortunate to be flying these old WWII aircraft. On many occasions we've stowed away these current young heroes. When it was possible we almost always let them have some stick time and they act like it was the experience of their life! Too cool.
Guess there'd be nothing like scattering livestock with a B24...unless it was a B29...
