It's a pack that 'screams' Swiss!
Yep, I agree!
Most of those I've seen have markings on them somewhere.

Where would I find markings if there are any?

Below is a link to someone in Switzerland who sells vintage Swiss Army gear it seems...
I found this one vintage Swiss backpack that has straps similar to your backpack for sale. You might try to contact the seller and see if he might help you ID your pack.
(You never know) - He has an 'Ask Question' link on this page below...
Vintage Swiss Army Backpack Rucksack of the by NaturaMachinata
Its a 1940's Swiss military back pack similar in design identical and in purpose to the 1930/40's German tournistor. The metal plate riveted on indicates Swiss origin.
The standard Swiss Cross is taken from the Swiss national flag - a white cross on a red field, Swiss military property is marked with the Swiss Cross or it's outline. So it is indeed a Swiss military pack, similar to the shape of the pack used by the Germans but very different in material and use. The metal plate with its red cross is that of the Swiss (as well as International) Red Cross, this pack was in use by Swiss military medics for carrying their medical equipment, it is not an issue Swiss soldiers pack which is covered, like that of the German military, in hair-on leather.
