Halloween Pumpkin Murder
Son and I murdered the Halloween pumpkin back in November. I used my 1892 M88 Trapdoor (a bringback from the S.P.A.M. with a member of the 12th NY), a M1 carbine (NPM 1/44), and a 1917 M1911 Colt. The 45/70 basically destroyed the pumpkin; first 2 shots between the eyes at 50 feet. Son clipped off the stem with the carbine, and I administered the coup-de-grace with 14 rounds of .45 acp.

Surprising how pumpkins take a hit as well as they do. Every November our range has it's share, one year it was 33 lying about at once. They don't go to pieces like people think, unless you don't cut them apart...instead you inject them full of water and then hit them with a small caliber-high velocity...projectile. They have to be full though. Or a bag of FFFg or flash powder hidden in their slimy bowels. Then a direct hit makes them hi order nicely. Make sure you have cover though...

Nothing like a little hydrostatic pressure...

Or a lot...love to hit it with an M72.
