1941 Tula Nagant revolver in 7.62 Tokarev.

I posted about this one a while back. It's a 1941 Tula Nagant revolver that appears to have had the cylinder reamed for 7.62 Tokarev. I sold this revolver about a year and a half ago, and immediately regretted it. Well, it turned up at the gun show yesterday, and I got it back. I didn't get to post pics back when I first had it, so here are some now. The hows and whys and the 'did anyone dare fire it?' questions still run through my mind. Done in Vietnam? Or was it even done during WW2? ( it's non import marked and all matching ) I would love to know if anyone has ever seen or heard of this conversion.

I have a report somewhere in my "Tokarev" file about Nagant pistols and 7.62x25 rounds being modified in Vietnam to work together. I don't recall what the cylinder mods were, but the rounds had a wire loop in the base groove to act as a rim. Perhaps the cylinders were bored straight through.

That 7.62 Tok is a very hot rd. I would be careful as the strength of the cylinder may not be sufficient to handle that pressure, Ray

I picked up one from Century about 15 years ago. The original cylinder had been bored out to 32 S&W Long. Folks were given the options of buying new made additional cylinders in 7.62mm Tokarev and 32 ACP. I picked up both of these cylinders. I have fired the 7.62mm Tokarev. Its painful. Its also a little scary given the thinnest of the top strap of the revolver.

This, me neither :confused:

This is how I solved the problem when I first discovered the cylinder reaming....tape around the Nagant cartridges. Worked like a charm.
