Came across this Ithaca 1911A1 (1943) with the guides on the frame brazed as shown in the pictures below.
Has anyone come across such a repair? Does this affect the integrity of the frame?
Other thoughts?

I don't know if anyone still does it, but they used to peen the frame rails to tighten the frame to slide clearance. Maybe someone used brazing to try and achieve the same effect. Tom
I agree with oldpaul, the adjustable rear sight suggests this was someons way of tightening things up. For a little while. Don't know if or how much it would weaken the frame but I can't imagine it doing any good.
Too bad, I'd think that just ruined a perfectly serviceable pistol. Thing is, guys usually used brand new guns for that.
I believe the brazening to be one of several procedures to tightening the frame to slide contact to attempt to increase accuracy of a service M1911A1 in the 1950 and 60's. As they were plentiful from the DCM and surplus markets and real cheap. I have also seen brazening build ups on the hoods of the barrels as well.
