Looking for parts to restore my first Ross, a Mark II

Hello,
I just chanced across a sporterized Ross Mark II; found it leaning against the wall in my dealer's shop. He wanted to get rid of it, so it will be coming home with me today. It appears to be complete and uncut, other than the shortened forearm and the removal of both barrel bands. But a fairly thorough search across the internet has not yielded any sources of parts for its restoration, namely said stock and bands.

So I am hoping the experienced members of this forum might be able to point me towards possible sources for these parts. I sent off a note to "Flying Pig" after reading his post on his stock replicator, and am waiting to hear if he is making stocks for commercial sale yet. But are there other possible sources for a stock? And places I might look for the bands?

And help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, stocks are scarce so Flying pig may be it. At least we now have him. If you place an ad in the WTB section the other parts may come to you form around the world...

Thanks. I will do that, but I think that I need to make a more detailed determination of the rifle I have so that I am asking for the right parts, or are the bands on the Mark IIs all the same?

Maybe you could post some pics of markings for us, that way these guys can determine exactly which number and mark you have.

May as well send a reply here...meant to get back to you but wound up out in the mountains servicing machines until late the last few days.

I have a rough MkII 3* master stock here. If it turns out that is what your rifle is then I can make you a rough copy and send it to you. It will be a ton of fitting though. When I made it last fall I was just starting to figure the duplicator out and was doing a pile(like 80 hours each stock) of hand fitting to get them right. I've spent a few hours a day for the last month figuring it out and in now much happier with the results, as Im sure any of you who wind up with one of my stocks will be as well. The MkIII set up is now dialed in. Unfortunately I had to sell my MkII rifle I was using to fit the stocks to in order to pay bills during my first period of trade school. Its no small feat taking a 50% wage cut with a wife(stay at home mom), two kids, two cars and a mortgage but selling off my collection payed that up. Regardless, if I had an action to work with I could now fix my master stock and properly fit any following stocks perfectly. Right now I unfortunately do not.

I may still have a MkII mid band I can sell, but I don't have a nosecap or any screws for them. Hoping that someone gets reproducing caps as I'll be a few years buying tooling yet before I can do it here.

I will send you a PM about the stock and the band, as I would like both. As for the type of my rifle, I am guessing a 4*, upgraded from a 3* (?) based on what I can read of the stock markings. I just tried to post the pictures I took after stripping the finish last night, but they are too big, so I need to figure out how to make them smaller. But I do see a US acceptance stamp and flaming bomb on the grip, so it would appear to be one of the 20,000 rifles provided to the US. I am not sure if that further defines the rifle type. So any input on what this rifle is would be appreciated. And I will get the pics up as soon as I can shrink their size.

You can crop your pics if you use a program like "Snipping tool". Usually it's because there's too much background and extra surrounding the pic. Free downloads of this tool are available.

Is that a U.S. marking? As in U.S. property at one time? That would have been WW2...the rest will be deciphered shortly...stand by...
