m96
Hi all, this is my first post on this site.I have a m96 CG dated 1898.The bolt is turned down and numbered to the rifle. The bolt has only 1 of the 3 gas escape holes mentioned in Bolt Action Rifles by Frank de Hass. What would explain this anomaly? I understand that the bolt handle could have been done later on but the gas holes don't add up. As this was the first year of manufacture at CG would it be possible that early on they tried the m94 bolt design with the extra rib on top that distinguishes the m96 from the m94? Cheers.
