Did anyone here win the bidding on the scoped No4(T) ?
Didnt make it this month, anything interesting up there
A few bits of interest, looked like part of a collection of sniper rifles, two No4T's one scoped and one scope less, barrels like sewer pipes but rest looked ok, original scope numbers on the butts etc, the scoped one had a mismatch scope and bracket, scope will require some work, got the original scope number from the scoped one for future reference.
I left before the auction started, can't be bothered waiting around anymore, just left the postal bids and hoped for the best...... out of six I did win one bid.
The scoped T was acquired by someone known to me and is currently sat stripped on my bench. The barrel was indeed as black as a chimney but is actually a cracker, you can still see the cutter marks in the grooves and it is the original bearing the date, rifle number and code. Why people don't clean them before putting them into auction is beyond me.
Thats good news about the barrel, hope the other one comes up the same, the tin for that scope was on ebay other day did the known person win the bid?Quote:

A little birdie told me once that barrels are left dirty and grotty to hide faults........... Sometimes faults only previously picked up by barrel viewers at the proof houses.
