My Grandfather served in WW1 and WW2 started in early US Navy aviation with paper and wood aircraft to one of the Navy early aircraft carriers the USS Saratoga he started out enlisted and went through the ranks to become a mustang a officer before he retired. During WW2 he was my Dads div officer at one point that had to be tough because he gave my Dad no brakes and help my Dad enlist at the age of 16 some thing that could not happen today. A few photo's of Navy of old.

The USS New Mexico battle ships use to have a few aircraft on board. From the red white and blue strips on the tails those are WW1 era float planes.
