How can you tell if a K Kale Turkish Mauser is an original sniper or one that has been fitted with a scope in more recent times (after importation)? This one has two threaded holes one forward of the other on the front part of the receiver and one hole on the rearward part of the receiver. The bolt handle is turned down and the stock is recessed for it.
Got pics? Sounds like a drill and tap by someone after the fact for a hunting endeavor...
I don't believe the Turkish ever made a Mauser sniper rifle, so it was likely done by your average joe or a gunsmith. Note this isn't my expertise but I googled it quickly and there were no results and I looked through one of my reference books that lists the main issue Mauser rifles (Mauser military rifles of the world, which is a good generalist book) and no where in there does it mention a Turkish sniper.
And that sounds like the weld on bolt handles offered by Brownell's at one point. You just cut the handle off and weld this one on, groove out a space in the stock. One hole in the back...sounds more like a hunting rifle every second.Quote:
