Hey guys, got a few questions. First one, I know condition is everything. On average what are the m41's going for? Next question, what are bayonets for this rifle worth? And last, seems this one has 2 dates on it. 1941 produced on the receiver, then the stock is stamped fat1950. Someone explain this to me? Thanks in advance for all replies and also thank you for being patient with my goofy questions lol
I've spent US$100 and US$300 for such not too long ago. The more expensive still has the King's (department store?) hang tag showing the 1960's $9.99 price. But I like the other a bit more. Don't know what the latest auction prices are, as I've already got two! Have seen 'em from US$80 to US$500+ in local shops in recent years with no rhyme nor reason to the pricing.
The FAT1950 is the Italian rebuild mark from that year. Terni done, hence the "T" in "FAT". It seems many went from rebuild to storage and then surplus sales in freshly overhauled condition.
Personally, if the bore isn't good, I would pass on any Carcano, no matter the exterior condition, unless you have absolutely no intention of shooting the thing.
Can't remember how much the latest bayonet purchase was early this year or late last. Probably roughly US$100 give or take $25. First one was probably $10 but that was ages ago.
Thanks! I found this one, with a good bore, and decent wood for 240 with a bayonet. So I guess I did ok. I'm happy with it lol just making sure I didn't overpay on it. Thanks!
$240 with a bayonet is an OK price. Neither the rifles or the bayonets are rare or in high demand. 41's have been bringing about $150 in my area, bayonets go for $50-$75 on ebay if it has the scabbard, less if not. The rifles book $175 for good, $250 for very good and $300 for excellent.
I paid 100 for mine, tax included. Mine's a FAT43 that I found in a local pawn shop, rough on the outside (stock dried out badly, marks worn off, etc.) but still covered in cosmoline internally, including a full barrel of the gunk. Cleaned it and the dead bugs out to find not only a perfect bore/ internals, but also that it had the Terni Sniper Mark (crossed rifles on a target), which means it was meant to be a DMR rifle basically. Its very accurate with commercial ammo (need to slug the bore someday).
