1905 nose cap replacement
I've just finished the restoration of my 1905 rifle except for the nose cap. I know that these are impossible to find. I seem to remember a discussion somewhere that said there were replacements that would fit. This would be temporary and cosmetic until I can find a nose cap. My goal is a complete restoration, so this would be, once again, temporary.
Ross nose cap - Info request.
Hi All,
this is my latest progress toward a forming die for Ross MKII nosecaps.

This only accomodates those 1905 & MkII models with the the standard weight barrel.
I still desperately need details, from someone with a sheet metal MkIII or a MkII**(target) nosecap - so I can design tooling to accomodate that socket shape too.
I know the dissasembly involved is a real pain, but the next time someones got either of those nosecaps in their hot little hands - could they please take some pics & measurements?
Any assistance would be really appreciated.
Have also sent a replica bayonet lug that I machined, away for quotation. Firstly it went to a foundry but the component size and detail was unsuitable (as i'd suspected) and they've referred it on to a business with CNC milling equipment, that specialise in small runs & prototyping etc. So will see what comes of that.
