1905-R sporter restored!

Here's a Ross 1905-R factory sporter I just finished. Sorry I know its not a milsurp, but rather a sister of a military rifle.

When it came to me it had a bulged barrel. I wound up having to shorten it to behind the bulge. It is now carbine length, and handles awesome! I also built a new stock for it and rust blued the metal.

There of course were challenges with this one. It was my first 1905-R stock. I made a few mistakes (one being the blank I chose). I fixed the chips in the stock and blended them as good as I could, and fixed a boo boo with a hole for the Harris lever pivot. Everything else went smooth as butter.

FP, Another fine job. I think you have mastered your craft. I know the good blanks are hard to find and if they are real nice they are very expensive. Your pictures make me want to look for a Ross. I have only seen a few locally here in Washington. Salt Flat

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm still very far from mastering this stuff. My MkIII stocks are getting close to being dialed in, there is really only one or two things I feel I can still improve upon there. The MkII/1905 action is a whole different breed to the MkIII/M1910 action. The Harris lever system provides a pile of interesting challenges including mag well design, lever hinge placement etc. complicating matters is the fact that I can't find forstner bits in 1/64" increments. They would save some troubles. Oh well, I'm only about a year and a half in. In a couple more years they will be perfect ;)

I would definitely take that out to get some venison in the freezer, nicely done sporter.
