I'd love to know more about it, if anyone can shed(get it) more light on its use.

That A in U mark is very interesting Gary. I mention it occasionally....... It indicates an item that is 'on the books' so to speak BUT isn't stored in the technical stores (or what we call '....the tech stores' or '.....the G-10' stores because it is in use somewhere in the unit. This was usually something valuable and attractive (V and A....., another set of initials I occasionally use.....) such as your clock or in a workshop, the machine tools and........... well, you know the sort of thing.

I can imagine that a clock like this would be allocated to an office in Shed 6 somewhere, in an Ordnance Depot for example. Every year or so a blanket stacker/odd job man from the technical QM's staff would walk around and check that everything was still where it should be. When he was doing his rounds, the staff would be pointing out various other objects that he could mistake for the missing item on his check list. One day I'll tell you about the Coventry Climax fire pump and trailer and the piano.............

We called that sort of thing "Material in Use", or "Dispersal Account" and the same idea. Both were signed for by a senior man for accountability.

I paid rather a lot for it at an auction in Michigan several years ago. I paid 5-7 times for it what other dial clocks were bringing and this one doesn't even have a fusee movement. I guess because of the broad arrow marked dial.

Well, hang on to it and use it for several years. I'll bet it holds time marvelously...and when you're done, it will sell for 5-7 times what you paid...I'll bet. Neat clock.

Thank you, It's one of my favourite clocks, I'll not sell it. But I get your point, unfortunately at the the moment the market is way down.

That's like people around here saying their house is worth this or that...it's not if you aren't going to sell it... I have a feeling you'll be measuring your time off that clock for many years. They don't appear so often here in Canada...I'd have one...Just one...

You are absolutely correct, the price really is irrelevant, I bought it for what it is, a really cool clock with history.
