1st on new forum. 2 and 5 shot clip problem.

I asked this on the old forum and the old forum blew up and never came back. Sorry. Seriously. My rifles will not load into my M1s. The follower just keeps pushing them out. They do not trip the bolt so it can come forward. My rifles have no problems with 8 round clips. My 2 and 5 round clips are new with no flaws. What am I doing wrong? Bob.

Actually two people DID answer you. Quadguy and myself. My experience has been that these clips sometimes do not cause the bolt to go forward when you seat them. So you kind of carefully ease the op rod back (as in the first step in "Poort, Haarms!") but carefully let it begin to engage the top round in the clip. Then get your thumb out of the way and let the bolt slam forward. It should function normally after that. The problem with these clips is that they are not filled with rounds on the bottom as in a full 8 rd. en bloc. Get some dummy cartridges and try it with those, first.

Griff. The 2 round clips are made by Aggressive Engineering Corp. They can hold 2 rounds at either end, so I even tried loading both ends, with no luck. I was looking for a faster way to load during matches. Thanks. Bob.

To load a clip with 2 or 5 or anything less than the full 8 you must put a slight amount of back pressure on the Op Rod Handle while pushing down on the clip. If the rifle is timed properly it shouldn't take much.

Take the Receiver Group out of the Stock and load clips of dummies. You'll see all the "legbone connected to the kneebone" workings of an M1.

Until the Follower gets to the bottom, all the connected parts haven't moved enough to disengage the Op Rod Catch. Until the Op Rod Catch disengages the Clip Latch can't engage.

Pressing the Op Rod Handle slightly to the rear compensates for the lack of Follower travel.

Once you hear the click of the clip latch engaging everything is Ops Normal.

I like to let the bolt ride over the top round and let the bolt close on an empty chamber. Then all I do is pull the op-rod to the rear and chamber a round. This also shows that the en-bloc is in place, lock into the rifle. I do this for M1 Garand Matches when loading the two round en-bloc. It works for me.
