It has been more than a year since I bought an M1. I am still learning, and you guys have helped me learn more. I hope I am getting better at IDing good M1's. This is my latest buy. Opinions are requested. Thank you.

Found the cleaning kit in the buttstock. 3 SA hammer. Circle P with serif. no small ordnance wheel on heel.
Nice rifle...the cleaning kit in the butt should be one of those plastic containers and the cleaning rod with the M10 handle. That goes in a little canvas bag...
Very nice rifle! Everything appears to be right on the money, minus the rear sight? To my eyes that appears to be a type III lock bar but your serial number would require a type II. In the grand scheme of things, that's a pretty easy thing to correct if you so choose.
I have an M1 in the same serial range as yours (s/n 1165760). Here's a photo of the rear sight attached to that rifle.

Very nice and I would like to know if it has a lower butt plate screw shifted to the left like many I see even a 100% correct one that was in the GCA. I have been researching this for along time and find GHS and EMcF with 2S marked plates on 100% correct rifle. I have seen a few that changed it out thinking these only belong on Winchester and they are dead wrong. Thanks,,Rick B
Okay, here's the butt plate. the butt of the rifle has two, what appear to be purposeful marks above the holes. Anyone know anything on those? Not sure what a left angled screw would look like.
