Mark 5 bayonet problem
I just tested my Mark 5 Jungle Carbine bayonet today at the range. I not sure if it is a reproduction --- since it has no stamped letters or numbers on it --- It looks brand new...since I had to sharpen it. It also came with a new looking scabbard and frog.
I had the carbine on a pedestal rest, when I clicked on the bayonet. It fell completely off on the third shot. I clicked on the bayonet again --- and on the second shot --- It slid forward about 1/2", with the bayonet barrel ring partially obstructing the muzzle flash hider.
Realizing the danger...I packed the bayonet into my range bag.
Anybody else having the same problem with there Mark 5 bayonet? Any cure-alls for solving this problem --- other than wiring the bayonet to the barrel?
Thanks,
Erno

It seems as though it isn't clicking firmly in place. Check that when you fix the bayonet, the catch returns to the IN position when the bayonet is fully fixed. The round catch should engage/slip in behind the small rounded portion of the at the rear of the bayonet standard. If it is, then the bayonet cannot come off until you press in the catch.
I seem to recall that you can assemble the two part nut/bolt catch and spring the wrong way laterally
All that said from memory from years ago!!!!!
