What can you good folk tell me about my 1892 8mm Lebel revolver?

I'm 2 weeks shy of 64 years old,,,
I've had this revolver since I was 11 years old.

I call her Margaux.

I bought it and a sock full of ammo for $10.00 at a farm auction.

Mine is in very good condition,,,
No pitting and probably 80% of the finish.

Lockup is very tight and the action is smooth.

I even have 523 rounds of new manufactured Fiocchi ammo for her.

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of her Value?

I was always under the impression that this was a 200-300 dollar gun,,,
But there are two in Gunbroker right now for far more.

One has a starting bid of $1,699.00,,,
The other has a bid of $500 that hasn't hit the reserve price.

Do I actually own a valuable handgun?,,,
Or are those prices out of reason?

Me too....boy that would have terrorized people, I did enough damage with a replica plastic 1911 until mum burnt it! You could not run around the streets like we did in the old days with our cap guns playing cowdies and itchy b*ms you would have the TRG on your tail.....

Well, it wasn't exactly "given" to me,,,
I mowed lawns for $2.00 apiece.

Counting gas and oil as expenses,,,
I mowed 6 lawns to earn the money to bid with.

But yeah,,,
1962 was a lot different than now.

I lived way on the far south edge of Oklahoma City,,,
North of my house was 30 year old residential,,,
South of my house was miles of open land.

It was nothing for a half dozen of us to go "hunting",,,
Armed to the teeth with .22 rifles and 410 gauge shotguns.

There was a dry creek bed about 1/3 mile south of us,,,
That's where we went to shoot tin cans and targets.

Then there was the old county dump,,,
That place was teeming with big rats to shoot.

Now I was just about the only kid who had a handgun,,,
But after I shot the 60 or so rounds in that sock,,,
There was no more ammo for over 30 years.

I think the only reason I kept this gun for all these years,,,
Was the fact that I loved it having a lanyard ring.

Margaux is a Model 1892 but manufactured in 1903,,,
The old gal is 112 years old this year,,,
And she still shoots very well.

I haven't priced them recently. Have had two, neither was much more than US$300, but that was ten years ago. Still have the better one of the two, but not much ammo. What Fiocchi I shot wasn't all that impressive accuracy-wise.

That's what I was thinking as well.


Just a few years back I could have bought one at a gun show for $175.00,,,
I considered it as I love matched sets of unique guns.

But since I hadn't found any ammo,,,
I decided to pass on it.

I guess the sellers of the two in Gunbroker are simply fishing for a sucker.

I can't find a price reference in any of my blue books,,,
The Standard Catalog of Firearms refers me to the Standard Catalog of Military Firearms.

If one of you gentlemen happen to have that book,,,
Could you look up the value for me.
