Would one of these be out of place in an L42 transit chest?
He'd be keeping that in his private cupboard but I suppose he could keep it anywhere.
Simon,
Some lads did keep them in the case in the armoury, so they knew it was all kept together when the rifle was on the rack, well away from the run of the mill weapons.
Certainly in our armoury the L42's were kept with the pistols and SMG's and personal weapons owned by officers.
Cases were kept as tight as if it was the rifle itself, never the twain separated if that helps, and like the Holy Grail NEVER opened by non afficiated members of the trained !!.
Having spent a lot of time with 2 PARA from then until now, in my day there was no such thing as a Sniper Section, it was those who were trained and normally with Patrols C Company.
They do now becuase of Iraq and Afghanistan have a recognised Sniper Section in each Battalion, where records in Skill at Arms booklets are maintained religiously due primarily to the amount of rounds used and perfection sought!
