U.S. Army or Marine Sniper Rifle Specs
I will be real general in this question. . . .
Can anyone tell me the standard Army or Corp sniper rifle these days or is there such a thing as "standard" anymore?
A friend asked and I suspect he would like to build an approximation for target shooting and his own amusement. I told him I thought the Remington 700 was the basis, but I think he had in mind trigger, barrel and bolt perhaps along with any specific mods done to suit individual requirements.
Thanks for any and all responses to this. He is a longtime bolt gun guy, but I told him you would know if any place on the internet would.:)
Excellent infomormation; thanks for posting

US Marine Sniper....co-worker of mine..
My friend returned from Iraq two years ago, where he served as a sniper in the USMC...He used the Remington-based M40A3 with a Schmidt & Bender scope w/mildot reticle..
