Ok, I'll ask. What what is this picture showing besides the obvious kit? Why more on the left than the right?
Maybe it could be European theater of operations (Left side) versus Pacific/Jungle operations just a bit of a guess others will hop in and give us the answer
The one on the right is a combat load out.

Appears to me to be a PR image or display that is intended to show equipment carried in the initial assault (left) and combat essential equipment (right). The left display includes hand grenades and two canteens that was common practice in the Pacific, but the boots worn by the Marine on right dates this image to late 1950s. It is possible that the Marine on the left with leggings represents the "old" equipment and the Marine on the right the "new" equipment, or may just be coincidental. Interesting that the display included hand grenades but no bandoleers of rifle ammunition. The camouflage materials in this image appears odd to me, but that could be the brown side is displayed, and the lighting conditions and film used was "blind" to some of the colors.
