Another came in

I have had this inert 2"MR (Rt side) for about 6 years when the one on the left came up funny thing is the fuse has the same batch No's, build and inspection dates as my original one so I was quite amazed, the tail fin was a different date as the Rt one is a 1940 10 FD Ltd - 2 with a large Z and the left one is a 1942 5 FD Ltd - 2 and then a large 7.
As it came from the east coast to have an almost identical one is unique considering the quantities made, all I require is the cap for the tail that holds the starting charge so if some one who has a spare end cap I sure would like to grab it.

Intersting that you have a No. 161 fuze there, with the safety pin. These were introduced after it was found the No 151 fuzes could be armed when air dropped, so a safety pin was added to prevent some nasty surprises! I have bucketfuls of end caps, but all are relic so if you don't mind a bit of corrosion, I will happily send you one :)

Yes they found that out with the 3" air dropping them as well in New Guinea they became armed so when they dropped the round down the tube it detonated and that is not a nice way to lose a mortar team. Thanks for the offer of an end cap it is appreciated.
