Need help with a few markings on a 1916 BSA SMLE

I was wondering if someone could help with identifying some markings on a 1916 BSA No. 1 MkIII* barrel.

The first picture shows an "asterisk over a W". The second picture shows a "T" and then to the right of it what looks like three upside down numbers. The third picture shows a "V.S.M." over a 2 57. The third picture may be of the Vickers and a February 1957 recondition.

Well, we haven't got pictures but a letter W on the nocks form indicates cord wear at the breech and the star you mention indicates cord wear at the muzzle which does not affect accuracy at the time. They were signs for Armourers to note for future reference.

Others will swear blind that the W indicates Weedon or variations on that theme........ But believe me.

Just to let you know I put the pictures in.

The 2nd picture looks like there is a Canadian armed forces acceptance mark, an arrow within a C. (On the raised part of the breech?)

V.S.M. stands for barrel maker, Vickers Sons and Maxim.
