Super rare 1903 rifle sling

A Kerr no buckle sling made in leather not canvas I picked up at the SOS show, seller had $45.00 on it but I got it for $25.00. When I first bought it I thought it was a made up sling using the Kerr hardware however on closer examination it was actually manufactured that way. I showed it to Hays O who was at the show also and he said that’s only the 2nd one he’s ever seen. He said he has one like it also that was in a collection he bought years ago. He’s had looked for another one like it since but never saw another one until he saw the one I have.
It’s probably a first pattern Kerr sling made in the beginning of production following the norm of using leather for slings. The metal hardware appears to be un-blackened brass like the early Krag/03 slings. Ray

First one I ever saw (or even heard about). Hays really knows his stuff about gear, so I'd take his word for it. Nice snag!!
